September’s Call to Care
Awareness into Action: Seeking Help this Suicide Awareness Month
September is Suicide Awareness Month, a time when we come together to acknowledge the struggles of those around us and remind ourselves that we are not alone. As therapists, we’ve seen the impact that depression and suicidal thoughts can have on individuals and their loved ones. It’s a heavy burden to carry, and it’s essential to recognize that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
If you’re reading this and struggling with feelings of hopelessness, please know that there is support available. Depression is a treatable condition, and with the right guidance, you can develop the tools to manage your symptoms and improve your mental health. A therapist can provide a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your feelings, identify patterns, and work through challenges. Together, we can work towards finding ways to make life more manageable and meaningful.
It’s also important to acknowledge the loved ones who support those struggling with depression. Watching someone you care about suffer can be incredibly challenging, and it’s essential to prioritize your own mental health as well. As therapists, we’ve worked with family members and friends who are seeking guidance on how to best support their loved ones. There is support available for you too, and seeking help can be a powerful way to care for yourself and those around you.
One of the most significant barriers to seeking help is the stigma surrounding mental health. It’s time to break down these barriers and remind ourselves that mental health is just as important as physical health. By speaking openly and honestly about our struggles, we can create a more supportive and understanding community. As therapists, we’ve seen the positive impact that therapy can have on individuals and families, and we’re committed to providing a safe and compassionate space for those who need it.
If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, we want you to know that there is hope. Reaching out for help is the first step towards healing, and we’re here to support you on that journey. If you’re ready to take that step, we’d invite you to contact our office to schedule an appointment. Let’s work together to find a way forward, and let’s remind ourselves that we are not alone.
